Across the same monitored questions, Gemini started linking to three business-news publishers more often around October 8–9. The questions stayed put, but the publications supplying the answers changed.

Three publishers moved in the same window

Adweek, CNBC, and The Business Journals had zero recorded citations on October 1–3 and October 5–7 in these Gemini series. Adweek began appearing on October 8. CNBC and The Business Journals followed on October 9, and all three remained present through October 18.

By October 18, CNBC accounted for about 85 of every 100,000 citations in the monitored Gemini answers. The Business Journals accounted for 22, and Adweek for 13. These were still small shares of the total, but the change was sustained and showed up across national, trade, and local business coverage.

The Business Journals shows the change in actual links

Gemini cited bizjournals.com six times on October 9. That rose to 91 citations on October 15 and reached 115 on October 16, before ending the series at 83 on October 18.

That makes the finding easier to interpret than a large growth multiple against a near-zero baseline. An outlet that was absent on the preceding observed days became a regular source in this set of answers.

Why these outlets might move together

One possibility is that Gemini changed how it retrieves or selects business reporting. The timing across three publishers makes a shared retrieval change worth considering, rather than assuming three separate content wins. A change in available coverage or indexing could also produce the pattern; the charts do not identify the cause.

For a brand covered by one of these outlets, the important change is a new route into an AI answer. An existing article can become more visible without the brand publishing anything new.
